Empowering Pharma, Food & Sustainability Teams to Meet Global Standards

Microbiology

The Microbiology Department carries out all standard quality tests to identify relevant pathogens, as well as hygiene and spoilage parameters. Testing is supported by chemical and microscopic analyses, microbiological examinations, and sensory assessments, combining standard reference methods with rapid and cost-efficient screening techniques.

Tailored test schedules ensure systematic monitoring of key parameters within microbiological quality control programmes. Studies can include storage testing to evaluate shelf life under various simulated conditions.

All analyses are performed in laboratories accredited according to EN ISO/IEC 17025 and certified to GMP standards.

Molecular Biology

Molecular biology techniques enable the detection of specific biological or chemical sequences and structures in a sample, such as allergens or genetic modifications. Testing is performed using validated ELISA and PCR methods to ensure high sensitivity and specificity.

Services include:

  • Detection of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in seeds, food, and feed
  • Detection of food allergens such as gluten, soy, or nuts
  • Animal species identification (e.g., pig, horse, cattle, chicken, turkey, donkey, goat), including halal verification
  • Pathogen monitoring through PCR for SalmonellaListeria monocytogenesCampylobacter, and STEC/VTEC

Residue Analysis

Residue analysis is used to detect pesticides, mycotoxins, and other contaminants in food products. All analyses are carried out in laboratories accredited according to EN ISO/IEC 17025, using high-resolution separation techniques coupled with state-of-the-art triple-quadrupole mass spectrometers.

Ongoing participation in interlaboratory ring trials and continuous internal quality controls ensure the reliability and accuracy of results. The modular analysis system offers a cost-efficient option for regular residue monitoring, allowing customers to select specific analysis modules according to their needs.

Sensory Testing

Sensory analysis uses human senses — sight, touch, smell, taste, and hearing — to assess the quality or condition of a food product.

Services include:

  • Simple descriptive testing based on DIN 10964
  • Descriptive testing with subsequent quality evaluation based on DIN 10969

Specific attributes can be assessed according to applicable standards or using a tailored evaluation scale. Storage tests are also available to determine product shelf life under a variety of simulated conditions.
